Fist bumps and hand sanitizers are in!

Hayley Mick of the Globe and Mail wrote a great article today in the Life section today about the effect of the spread of H1N1 influenza on locker room behavior. Locker rooms are a haven for bacteria and germs and infection can spread quickly. It might be a good idea to remind students the preventative ways to help reduce the spread of germs:
  • Write your name on your water bottle
  • Do not share your water bottle
  • Always clean equipment and mats after use
  • Make regular use of hand sanitizer
  • Do not use communal towels
  • Use fist bumps with competitors instead of high-fives
Next time you're in the locker room, do a quick health check and make sure the locker room is not a welcome spot for germs and bacteria. Have sanitizer for hands and machines readily available as well as clean towels for individual use. Check to see if all students have labeled water bottles and set the example by giving everyone a good "fist bumpin." Click here to read the full article.
